Practice begins before movement. Long before the posture and the breath, there is a body that has been speaking all along, through tiredness, through pain, through restlessness. The first discipline is learning to hear it.
Sit down. Take one breath.

Your body already knows how to heal itself. Yoga, practised the traditional way and with awareness, is how you find your way back to that knowing. This is Living Yog.
The philosophy
Practice begins before movement. Long before the posture and the breath, there is a body that has been speaking all along, through tiredness, through pain, through restlessness. The first discipline is learning to hear it.
I do not teach yoga as performance. You learn what you are doing, why you are doing it, what it offers you and where it asks you to stop. Understanding is what turns repetition into practice, and practice into change.
The practice does not end on the mat. Breath, awareness and discipline follow you into your meals, your sleep, your work and your relationships, until yoga stops being something you do and becomes the way you live.
The founder · 01 to 07
I came to traditional yoga the long way, through injury, frustration and one honest question my body kept asking. That road is the reason I teach the way I do.

2013
I started with fitness. Aerobics, gym, the familiar idea that a body gets better by being pushed harder. Strength was the goal. My body was something I drove.
Then
A torn knee ligament, and suddenly even walking was difficult. The body I had been pushing would not be pushed any more.
After
I recovered and went back to the gym, and a shoulder injury followed. This one refused to heal. Effort alone was no longer enough. Something in the way I was training was missing.
First try
Yoga reached me first in its modern costume. Fancy postures, very little understanding. Practised without awareness it hurt me more than it helped, and I almost walked away from it.
200 hours
Then I met traditional yoga, and it looked nothing like what I had tried before. I enrolled in a 200 hour Teacher Training Course and began properly, from the beginning.
300 hours
A 300 hour Yoga Therapy training followed, and with it the pancha koshas, the five layers of being. My injuries, my mind and my patterns finally made sense. The change was personal long before it was professional.
Today
Now I teach what I had to learn the slow way. The body carries its own intelligence, and traditional yoga practised with awareness is how we return to it.
The tradition
Living Yog follows the Satyananda Yoga tradition. It is a complete and systematic approach in which body, breath, mind and awareness are trained together. Yoga as it was meant to be practised: patiently, personally, and as a way of life.

A posture done without attention is only exercise. The same posture done with attention becomes yoga. Awareness is the thing that changes the practice, not the shape of the pose.
Depth is not measured by how difficult a shape looks from outside. It is measured by how steady, how comfortable and how present you can be inside it.
Asana prepares the body, pranayama steadies the energy, yoga nidra and meditation settle the mind. Leave any of them out and the practice stays on the surface.
What you learn on the mat is meant for the rest of your day. How you eat, how you sleep, how you respond. That is where a tradition becomes a way of living.

Five layers of being
I
The physical body
Made of food, bone and muscle. The body you can touch. Asana begins here, not to perfect the body but to befriend it.
II
The energy body
The field of breath and vital force beneath the flesh. Through pranayama you begin to feel what actually animates you.
III
The mental body
The mind and its weather. Thought, reaction, habit. Here practice becomes observation rather than effort.
IV
The wisdom body
Discernment and intuition. The quiet intelligence that knows before the mind decides. Meditation is what makes it audible.
V
The blissful body
The innermost layer. Stillness itself, untouched by circumstance. Not achieved, only uncovered. This is the return.

The practice
Body, breath, mind, awareness and lifestyle are not separate offerings here. They are one woven practice. Each part prepares the next, and together they reach every layer.

Sound that steadies the mind before the body moves.
Postures practised with awareness, not ambition.
Breath work, the bridge between body and mind.
Guided deep rest. The art of conscious stillness.
Observation without effort, built up gradually.
Classical cleansing practices, used within therapy.
Written, personal guidance for life beyond the mat.

Transformation begins in the mind, not in the hamstrings. Living Yog is not yoga for everyone, everywhere, instantly. It is for people who want to understand what they are doing, and why.
Practice is not performance. It is understanding.
